Cocotte Dining

As restaurant settings go Cocotte is quite unique – basically a Japanese garden.

Under the stars in the summer and undercover during winter it is protected and warmed by clear drapes and heaters.

Owner– chef Shunichi Tanabe describes his food as a ‘unique fusion of European and Japanese culinary styles’, a combination appreciated by many a good chef and astute diners.

The menu is divided into two parts, tapas dishes and mains.

The tapas offerings are delicious with generous serves. Share among friends for a great dining experience which certainly showcases the skills of the chef.

Try spanner crab croquets with yuzu mayo; slow cooked Kurobuta pork belly with apple and fennel salad; prawn and pork dumplings with wakame salad and a chilli tomato soy sauce and Bacalhau balls- Portuguese style crumbed salted fish and potato balls with saffron aioli.

All of the mains are extremely tempting - among them an ox tail and beef cheek casserole braised for five hours in red wine and miso creating unbelievably tender meat and a mouth watering rich gravy – a delicious dish found in very few restaurants.

The Cocotte bouillabaisse, seafood poached in saffron and tomato dashi broth, is flavoursome and packed with seafood.

Dessert lovers will not be disappointed.  For a light fresh ending to what is always a perfect meal at Cocotte try the lemon myrtle green tea panna cotta with chocolate Chantilly and fresh strawberry sauce.
